We pine all winter long for summer in Minnesota.
Then in September, when the first fall cold front blasts in we take a big deep breath, let out a sigh and say; "Ahhhh, it really was a great summer this year." We know full well what's ahead, and it consoles and convinces us that we've had enough hot sticky summer weather to get us through the coming winter.
This year you'll be speaking your truth well as you asses the summer now tailing into fall. 27 days the mercury reached or topped 90 degrees this summer. That's the 9th highest total for 90 degree days in the Twin Cities since we've kept such records the past 121 years. That's nearly a full month of sweaty days at the beach, toes in the hot sand, wading in the balmy waters of your favorite lake.
It's nowhere near the record of 44 days back in 1988, but it's respectable.
Enjoy the cooler fall-like weekend.Time to get the furnace checked, toss the football around, take a brisk walk, and light the bonfire. We knew September would come eventually, and in case you haven't look at your calendar lately, it's here!
