Drought Buster?

Mark Twain said it takes a flood to end a drought.

We've had two in the past month in parts of Minnesota. First 10 to 17 inches of rain in southeast Minnesota in August. Now 4 to nearly 9 inches on the Iron Range last Friday morning. The deluge washed out parts of Highway 1 east of Ely.

When the drought update is done this week, they will likely remove parts of northeast Minnesota from the extreme drought category. The drought monitor is part objective science, part subjective judgment of local conditions.

Look for a nice stretch of weather through Wednesday, with another cool shot late this week before a weekend temp rebound.
