Back To Reality & Climate Drives Fashion

You knew it had to happen sooner or later.

It's been 6 months since temperatures have been this chilly. Until this week, we've only seen 2 days with highs below 60 degrees in the Twin Cities since April 15th. September marked the 7th straight month of above normal temps in the metro. I went swimming in Lake Minnetonka on the Autumnal Equinox (September 23rd) this year, can you top that?

Here's an interesting effect of our warming climate. The fashion industry is in turmoil beacuse our warmer winters are messing with they types of garments designers are able to show and sell. So called "transeasonal" fabrics are all the rage, as the differences between seasons seems to dwindle.

The Wall Street Journal reported last month that fashion giant Liz Caliborne Inc has hired a New York climatologist to speak to it's top 30 executives about the types of fabrics they should be using and peak times for seasonal markdowns. Target and Kohl's are also using climate experts.

Climate Change Drives Fashion

Now climate change is driving the fashion industry, and affecting how they do business.
