Warm fronts

Warmer air is pushing back today.

That's good news if you like summer, but it comes with a price.

Warm humid air, by its very nature is unstable. When you lift that moist unstable air over a frontal boundary in the atmosphere, you get rain. We could use some rain, but we don't need the slight risk for severe weather that comes along with the package.

This is the time of year when warm fronts like to set up near southern Minnesota. As warmer air with 60-plus degree dew points surge north from Missouri in the next 24 hours, expect a little thunder and some local downpours.
