The final section of the northbound lane of the new Interstate 35W bridge in Minneapolis is in place, although the new span won't be open until at least September.
The southbound span will get its final section next week.
The new bridge replaces the span that fell in August and killed 13 people.
There's still a seven-foot gap between the two sections of the northbound lane. Workers will fill that gap with concrete.
Crews have been working around the clock on the new bridge. At the construction's peak 600 people worked on the project.
The company building the new bridge promised to finish by Dec. 24 but, but they can earn up to $27 million extra if they finish 100 days early.
