Ask St. Paul writer Daniel Gabriel where he got the inspiration for his collection of stories about a pub in Wales, and he'll tell you he lived the life.

His book, "Tales from the Tinker's Dam," is fiction, but it's based on experiences he and his wife had a couple of decades ago.

Gabriel told Minnesota Public Radio's Euan Kerr he became a pub manager through a strange set of coincidences -- and the radio.
