Police catch campus groper

Police have arrested a man suspected of sexually groping a dozen women on or near the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis.

Two of the incidents were reported Tuesday night, before University of Minnesota and Minneapolis police arrested the suspect.

University of Minnesota Deputy Chief Chuck Miner said the victims identified the man as their attacker. Miner said the suspect matches the descriptions provided in 10 other assaults reported over the past two months.

He said all the cases have some common elements.

"(In) Most cases the suspect was riding a red bicycle. However in the two incidents last night he was on foot. In another incident on Sunday he was on foot. But generally a bicycle and the same actions in terms of walking up behind the female victims and groping them from behind," Miner said.

Miner says the suspect has confessed to 10 of the incidents. He said all of the victims were strangers to the man.

Authorities expect to charge him with several counts of fifth degree criminal sexual conduct.
