The natives are getting understandably restless.

Spring is definitely not in the air today. But it is on the weather maps.

After bottoming out at a frigid 35 below this morning, Embarrass could be as much as 75 degrees warmer by Sunday. It's hard to explain to people who don't live in this part of the country how good 40 feels after 35 below.

As the core of arctic high pressure drifts east, return flow on the back side of the high will bring southerly winds. The forecast models are cranking out highs as high as 57 for the metro. Reality is likely something lower until all the snow is gone. If we can manage our first 50 degree temperature of the year in the metro, that would be a milestone. We could see 6 or 7 consecutive days of above average temperatures starting on Saturday.

The bottom line is the weather pattern is finally changing for the better.

And not a moment too soon.
