Snoopy, Linus statues vandalized in Sleepy Eye

The Sleepy Eye Police Department is investigating after Snoopy's nose and the heart Linus held in his hand were taken from statues in town.

The special Linus statue that stands outside the Sleepy Eye Library was vandalized sometime last week. The "I Love Sleepy Eye" heart and nose along with an outdoor light were taken.

The statue was in honor of Linus Maurer, a Sleepy Eye native who taught cartooning with Charles Schulz at a Minneapolis art school.

The Linus character in Schulz' long-running Peanuts comic strip was inspired by Linus Maurer.

The Sleepy Eye mayor is offering a reward for information that helps lead to the return of the missing parts. Anyone with information should contact the Sleepy Eye Police Department. ---
