Police in St. Paul say a 14-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound on Fourth of July night, and they say the suspect is a man who might have been upset about fireworks going off in his neighborhood.
Police and paramedics were called to the neighborhood around 9 p.m. on Saturday, and the boy was taken to Regions Hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck.
After going door to door to find out more about the incident, police arrested a 49-year-old St. Paul man.
In a news release, police say they are still investigating the motive but think the suspect might have been upset about the fireworks. The suspect did not know the victim.
Police said the boy, from West St. Paul, is in critical but stable condition.
