Police identify victim of fatal St. Paul crash

Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal accident that occurred in St. Paul on Saturday.

Moussa Ould Maayif, 39, of Saint Paul, was driving his car shortly after midnight when his vehicle was struck by another car.

According to the criminal complaint, Jacqueline Marie Wagner, 20, of New Brighton, was driving eastbound on University Avenue at Vandalia Street before she ran a red light and struck Maayif's vehicle.

Officials said Wagner was driving more than 60 miles per hour when the accident occurred.

Maayif died after his car flew into the air and crashed into a utility pole, officials said.

A police officer witnessed the accident after being called to the area in response to a report that several hundred people were watching drag racing. The officer had pursued Wagner for speeding, but she refused to pull over and instead accelerated, according to the complaint.

If convicted, Wagner could face up to ten years in prison, a $20,000 fine, or both. She will make her first appearance in Ramsey County District Court today.
