NWS local storm reports from August 19th show as many as 11 tornadoes hit the area.

The Twin Cities National Weather Service said Tuesday that 11 tornadoes touched down during the severe weather outbreak of August 19th. That's the magic number after completing storm surveys in the field.

There are several notable occurrences here. First, this is the biggest tornado outbreak in recent history in the area. Secondly, all of the tornadoes were EF0 or EF1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. That's fortunate, since damage increases exponentially with EF2 or EF3 tornadoes.
