Fall colors popping

Minnesota DNR Fall Color Map shows 10 to 25% color showing around much of Minnesota.

Leaf peepers are happy campers these days as splashes of color catch appear in the landscape.

The latest Minnesota DNR Fall Color Report shows color is rapidly increasing around the state. Anywhere from 10% to 25% of the leaves are now showing color in most areas. Early reports indicate vibrant colors in some areas.

It is possible our summer drought will increase colors in some areas of eastern Minnesota. Various weather conditions have an effect on the fall color changes. This could be an excellent year for fall colors in the sate given the combination of dryness and colder weather coming next week.

Typical fall color "peak" is a subjective thing, but the DNR says it runs from north to south between late September to Mid-October.

Enjoy the changes in our landscape over the next month. All indications are the show should be a good one this year.
