Our September weather has been about average for Kansas City so far this month. So far in September the average temperature at Twin Cities Airport is 69.5 degrees. That's 6.4 degrees above average, and nearly a full degree warmer than the highest monthly temperature ever recorded for September in the metro. The warmest September on record was 68.7 degrees in 1931.

This month is also the driest on record so far in the Twin Cities, St. Cloud and Eau Claire. A paltry .01" of rainfall has been recorded at Twin Cities Airport this month.
Chance of showers:
Another cut-off upper low is spinning west of the area today. This low will send small waves our way through Tuesday which will bring chances for scattered showers. The low will retrograde westward a bit Wednesday and Thursday, and then move back toward us this weekend. Look for dry and warm weather mid-week, with a chance of rain showers again this weekend.

The past two weeks mark the peak of the hurricane season climatologically. There has been no tropical cyclone activity in the Atlantic for that past several days. This is the first time I can recall that hurricane season peak has passed with no storms in the Atlantic Basin.
