Minn. House panel examines MnDOT contractor goals
The Minnesota Department of Transportation's track record for hiring minority and female contractors for road work is getting some scrutiny from state lawmakers.
A House transportation oversight committee planned Tuesday to examine the department's Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program.
The program establishes goals for federally funded construction projects and sets guidelines for achieving them. Some minority contractors worry about being overlooked for work being done with federal stimulus dollars.
The committee will also receive a status report on two high-profile transit projects: the soon-to-open North Star commuter line and the years-away Central Corridor light rail line.
