Twin Cities NWS "Weather Story" highlights storm threats.
Our major winter storm continues to rage and will create a perilous AM rush hour Wednesday. Dangerous travel conditions in the metro and blizzard conditions in open areas will continue through midday at least.
High winds gusting to over 45mph and blowing snow will produce near zero visibilities at times in open areas. Travel is not recommended in much of southern Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

Radar and satellite trends, surface reports and computer forecast models continue to indicate that the heaviest snow will lay out from the southeast metro, south through Iowa and east through Wisconsin. Over a foot of snow could fall in the heaviest snow bands by late Wednesday.

In the Twin Cities, snowfall amounts of 5" to 9" are likely by late Wednesday. The heaviest totals will likely be in the southeast metro.
If (when!?) we get over 6" of snow at Twin Cities Airport, this will become one of the heaviest early December snowfalls on record.
This is one of those rare days when I would recommend that everybody who can stay home from the Twin Cities south and east stays put Wednesday.
