Businesses want yacht moved from downtown

A business group says a four-deck, 100-foot yacht is ruining the view of the St. Croix River in downtown Stillwater.

The Main Street Stillwater Alliance Business Association wants the Majestic Star to dock somewhere else.

The Dock Cafe co-owner Mike McGuire says the yacht is like parking a four-story hotel next door. He says his customers can no longer see the river from the cafe dining room.

The Majestic Star recently arrived from Manhattan. It has room for 400 guests and can seat 200 in its dining area. It's rented for weddings, business meetings and other events.

McGuire says the yacht might be appropriate for the New York harbor, but not for Stillwater.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press says the City Council will consider whether to approve an annual dock permit for the Majestic on Tuesday.
