Body found in Cannon River ID'd as missing woman

Rice County authorities have identified a body found over the weekend in the Cannon River.

Authorities recovered the body of 20-year-old Brittney Landsverk on Sunday morning. The Faribault woman had been missing since April 2 following an early morning car accident.

She was a passenger in a car full of young people. The car was on the driver's family's property near the river. It slipped sideways over the riverbank and plunged into the river. The driver of the car was critically injured, but two passengers were unhurt.

The survivors managed to get Landsverk out of the water, but said she slipped back into the river and disappeared.

Rice County authorities said a passerby spotted Landsverk's body about a mile downstream from where the accident happened.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner is conducting an investigation into how Landsverk died, with preliminary results expected in several weeks.
