St. Paul police investigating report of abduction Sunday

St. Paul police are investigating a report of a street abduction on Sunday morning.

Police said the victim was a 37-year-old woman waiting for a bus about 7 a.m. Sunday on East 7th Street. She told investigators that a grey SUV stopped near her and the driver got out and grabbed her.

She said he drove her around the area, threatening to sexually assault her. But she said that after about 45 minutes, she managed to open the door and jump out of the moving vehicle. She wasn't assaulted or injured in the incident and the suspect drove away.

It's the latest in a handful of similar incidents across the city, most of them attempts to lure young women or girls into passing vehicles.

St. Paul police said they don't think Sunday's incident was related.
