UMN Regents begin a busy meeting
Hi, MPR's Tim Post here. I'll do my best to post a few items today while my colleague Alex Friedrich is taking part in an all day training session.
I'm in place at the University of Minnesota for the board of regents meeting, and we're looking at a jam-packed agenda.
A provisional budget will be presented. It contains a tuition increase, cuts to academic programs, layoffs and a wage freeze for employees. The regents get a first look at the 2012 budget today, they'll vote on it later in the month. Here's the the story I did for MPR news this morning on the budget.
After today's meeting, the regents will hold a one hour public forum on next year's budget. That runs from noon to 1pm.
