The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system released its fall enrollment numbers on Thursday.
Take a look at the overall headcount and you'll see just a slight decrease, 1.5 percent. But the decline in full-time students is a bit more, 2.5 percent.
There are a variety of reasons, but some think the poor economy is playing a role.
Despite the slight decrease, MnSCU still turned in its second highest student enrollment ever, at just over 200,000 students. Chalk that up to the enrollment increases MnSCU saw as the economy began to tank three years ago, and people headed back to school to sharpen their skills.
Here's the story I did for MPR News on MnSCU enrollment numbers.
