Gov. Mark Dayton continues to voice his concerns over a company vying for engineering work on the proposed Southwest Corridor light rail project.
The Southwest LRT would link Eden Prairie to downtown Minneapolis. Dayton has expressed concerns to the Met Council over San Francisco-based URS Corp.'s bid for a $100 million, six-year engineering contract on the project.
URS Corp. was a consultant on the I-35W bridge before it collapsed in 2007, killing 13 people, At a press conference in Stillwater Friday, Dayton is pushing for more information about the company as contract talks move forward.
"Well, I'm going to have continuing discussions with the Met Council, Dayton said. "I respect that they are a separate government entity and they followed, as far I know, the procedures properly but I'm concerned about it."
URS is one of two companies bidding for work on the Southwest light rail project.
