ELLSWORTH, Wis. (AP) -- Two people have died and one was critically injured in a fiery head-on crash on Highway 63 in western Wisconsin.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department says the crash was reported shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday in Martell Township. Responding officers found the two vehicles fully engulfed.
The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram reports a car driven by a Red Wing, Minn., resident was trying to turn onto Highway Y when it pulled into the path of a truck driven by a Bay City resident. The driver of the car and a passenger in the truck died at the scene. The truck driver was taken to a hospital in Red Wing.
The names of the victims have not been released.
Traffic was rerouted for five hours because of the crash.
