Driver held after fatal Mpls. hit-and-run

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A bicyclist who was the victim of an early morning hit-and-run in Minneapolis has died, and the driver has been arrested.

Minneapolis police say they responded about 2:15 a.m. Saturday to a report of an injury accident. Those who called 911 reported the victim was severely injured and the involved vehicle had fled.

The bicyclist was dead when emergency responders arrived. Witnesses provided a description of the vehicle, which officers found a few minutes later.

Police arrested a 27-year-old man whom they say showed signs of intoxication. He was being held Saturday on tentative charges, including driving while intoxicated and criminal vehicular operation.

The bicyclist's name has not been released.
