Connor Ryan, a sophomore at South High School in Fargo, N.D., was among more than 1,000 area students who volunteered to throw sandbags on Friday, April 26, 2013. Volunteers were making quick work of building sandbag dikes. "It's not fun, but it needs to be done," said Ryan, who was helping in a residential neighborhood not far from Fargo's water treatment plant.
