This week the hounds bid farewell to a revered Minneapolis-based Japanese punk band, gaze in admiration at the work of a prolific Minneapolis street artist, and prepare for an attack by Minnesota's premier sketch comedy troupe.

St. Paul songwriter and performer Mayda is paying tribute to the blazing punk rock of Birthday Suits. The celebrated duo of Matthew Kazama and Hideo Takahashi is playing its last gig at St. Paul's Turf Club on Saturday, Oct. 5, before one of the members returns to his native Japan.

Designer and print maker Paige Guggemos has followed the evolution of Minneapolis street artist 11th Wundr, from tagger to muralist to established painter. Paige thinks 11th Wundr's strange yet magnetic new portraits, on display at Gamut Gallery in downtown Minneapolis through October 12, resonate because they're both dream-like and reflective of the artist's life and community. The exhibition is called "Almost Yesterday."

"Take your mom. Take your cousin from Toledo. Take a date," says local comedy writer and performer David Walbridge about "Attack of the Best of the Brave New Workshop." It's a review of the best Brave New Workshop sketches from the past 30 years, and David says it's consistently hilarious.
