A phone scam involving jury duty has been reported by residents and prospective jurors in four Minnesota counties.
The scam has been reported in Olmsted, Rice, Dakota and Ramsey counties, where residents have reported receiving phone messages about failing to return a jury summons.
The message asks residents to call a phone number, which connects the caller to someone called Angel, who asks probing questions, according to a public notice from the Minnesota Judicial Branch.
In addition, prospective jurors in Scott County report receiving calls from someone saying there was a warrant out for their arrest. The calls came from 952-607-7895. The caller says he is Major Paul Stevens, Badge 7612.
The Minnesota Judicial Branch notice asks residents who receive these calls to report them to their local law enforcement.
