In memory of Paul Revere who left a memorable mark on music

Today's Morning Edition music features the song "I'm Not Your Stepping Stone" by Paul Revere & the Raiders. The song was released in 1966 — one year before The Monkees recorded its popular version.

The video above features Paul Revere & the Raiders with a guest appearance by Davy Jones.

Paul Revere Dick, which was his given name, died this week at the age of 76. He founded Paul Revere & the Raiders in his hometown of Boise, Idaho, and played the organ in the band.

Paul Revere & the Raiders were known for wearing Colonial-style uniforms and coordinated dancing. The band had five top 10 hit songs.
