Welcome to Feeling the Vibe, which explores improvisational and instrumental music in the Twin Cities.
This episode explores how local musicians are using funk to capture fans. At First Avenue in Minneapolis, First on Funk, Vol. II, features New Sound Underground, PHO, Hustle Rose and McNasty Brass Band.
It also presents a taste of one of the best releases of the last year: saxophonist Peter Virck's "What You Believe Is True." Virck's quartet performs Friday at Jazz Central Studios in Minneapolis.
We'll also look ahead to the Atlantis Quartet show Monday at the Icehouse restaurant in Minneapolis. The group will record the show for release in 2015.
Keep the vibe.
