Robbinsdale police Monday identified the officer involved in last week's shooting of a high school student as Sgt. Thomas Rothfork.
Authorities say Rothfork, a 20-year veteran with the force, shot 18-year-old Tania Harris outside her home last Thursday night.
Harris was charged with assault for allegedly threatening another woman with a knife. Police say Harris was running at the woman and did not respond when an officer demanded she drop the knife. The officer, presumably Rothfork, fired twice, according to the criminal complaint against Harris.
Rothfork has been placed on routine paid administrative leave. The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
Harris was listed in stable condition at North Memorial Hospital last week. The hospital said Monday she has been discharged.
