Today's Morning Edition music is from "Love Hangover" by Diana Ross, which was No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 40 years ago today.

It starts as a ballad and then becomes a disco dance song.

It was Ross's first attempt at disco, which was all the rage at the time. To get her in the proper frame of mind, producer Hal Davis scheduled the recording session for 2 a.m. and had a strobe light installed in the studio.

It was Diana Ross's fourth No. 1 hit as a solo artist.
