Thawing out: A shot at 50s next week?

Jet stream changes ahead
The overall jet stream pattern across North America is ready to change for the warmer next week. Pacific flow arrives once again as the jet lifts north into Canada across the central United States.

That big bump of high pressure will bring above average temperatures to the central U.S. including Minnesota. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Predicition Center picks up on the trend.
The medium-range forecast models for next week crank out a string of days in the 40s, with highs in the 50s looking likely by late next week.
Here's NOAA's Global Forecast System output. Keep in mind temperature trends are more accurate than daily specifics a week out.
Last night's European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts model run cranks out an eye-opening 62 degrees for the Twin Cities by March 16. That's probably optimistic, but again a sign of the trend toward much milder weather late next week.
With a string of days in the 40s and possibly 50s next week, and our higher March sun angle, snow cover will take a major hit in the next seven to 10 days.
