Somebody please turn off the weather spigot. Locally torrential downpours blew up again in the Twin Cities this afternoon. A flash flood warning is in effect until 7:30 pm for the central Twin Cities.

Monday’s torrential rainfall dumped a remarkable 5.18 inches in Maple Grove.

That’s more than a month’s worth of rain in a few hours. The average annual rainfall for July at MSP Airport? 4.04 inches.

Monday’s 1.75 inch rainfall at MSP Airport makes this the 4th wettest year on record to date.

A few spotty thundershowers roam southern Minnesota tonight. The severe risk is low, but locally heavy rainfall is still occurring under storms.

Storm chances again Wednesday

But Wednesday brings another slight severe storms and heavy rainfall risk to much of Minnesota.
