Will Smith’s song “Wild Wild West” was No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 20 years ago today. It’s the title track to a movie starring Will Smith, which itself was a remake of a 1960s television series.
A mash-up of pop culture references, the song includes a “Ghostbusters” shout-out, a refrain sung by Kool Moe Dee — who had released a different song with the same name several years earlier — and samples of Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish” scattered throughout.
