Ten years since Lucinda Williams got married at First Ave
It was ten years ago on Wednesday when Grammy-winning country rock musician Lucinda Williams played a show at First Avenue in Minneapolis — then got married onstage.
As Williams later told NPR’s Peter Sagal, her now-husband, manager Tom Overby, was from Minneapolis, so they decided to combine their wedding with a gig there.
“We just figured we wanted to invite everybody we knew, and we didn't want to have a limited guest list,” Williams said. “So we played and then during the encore, we had a little ceremony onstage.”
