Th tornado that tore through Elk Mound and Wheaton, Wis.,Tuesday night caused severe damage to homes and buildings. But it also flattened a stand of mature pine trees. And the wicked winds inside the funnel stripped the bark from trees.
The Twin Cities National Weather Service storm report shows the tornado was on the ground for 5.5 miles and was a third of a mile wide.

Most significant damage occurred in Wheaton, WI just east of Elk Mound around the intersection of county road M and Wisconsin State Road 29. This area saw entire stands of Pine trees leveled, some stripping of bark from trees, and the destruction of several structures. The destruction of a metal building and significant damage to two nearby homes were consistent with expected damage from winds of EF3 in strength.
