September went out like a summer lion this year.
A record moist and very warm summerlike air mass lingered over southern Minnesota Monday. The dew point at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport hit 72 degrees Monday afternoon. That’s a record high dew point for Sept. 30, and the latest in the year for such high dew point readings.
Flooding along Interstate 35
The warm front generated torrential rainfall Monday along and near Interstate 35 south of Duluth. A zone of 3 to 5 inches of rain ran from near Moose Lake and Holyoke, Minn., into northwest Wisconsin. The Nemadji River rose more than 6 feet in just a few hours.
Flooding is occurring along several roadways in the area. MPR News’ Andrew Krueger captured these scenes.
