40 years since The Knack topped the pop chart with ‘My Sharona’

The Knack was No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 40 years ago today. Lead vocalist Doug Fieger wrote the song about a real person, Sharona Alperin, who he had a crush on. She was dating someone else at the time and later became engaged to Fieger, but they never married. A photograph of Alperin is on the cover of the “My Sharona” single. She’s now a real estate agent in Los Angeles.
