Timing is everything in life — and in weather.
Saturday will be the mildest day of the next week at least. It could be the mildest day until March. Sunshine and southerly winds combine to boost temperatures into the 50s again across most of Minnesota Saturday. Temperatures should nudge close to 60 degrees near the Twin Cities and across southern Minnesota.

Polar plunge next week
The upper air wave pattern across North America next week favors a deep trof of low pressure over the central United States. That pattern brings a frigid northwest flow into Minnesota and the Upper Midwest.

Temperatures peak Saturday afternoon, then tumble off a cliff as we head through next week.

Right now Halloween favors highs around 40 in the Twin Cities, with trick-or-treat temps in the upper 30s south and upper 20s north.
