Close brush with October snow; November chill levels

Accumulating snow for southeast Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.

Weather Maps in the Upper Midwest are coming up white this week.

Two separate snow systems will bring accumulating snow to parts of Iowa, Wisconsin and southeast Minnesota. The most significant accumulations favor eastern Iowa and southern Wisconsin. But southeast Minnesota will see a few flakes and some light accumulations are possible.

Eastern Iowa and southern Wisconsin are in line for a few slushy October inches through Tuesday.

Here’s the timing for Iowa.

An inch or two will cover much of Iowa by Tuesday morning.

The system moves into Wisconsin by Tuesday morning.

A second system arrives on Thursday.

It remains to be seen how active the early part of the snow season in Minnesota will be. But with plenty of cold air in place, it may be just a matter of time before a storm winds up and takes a favorable track to produce heavy snow in Minnesota.
