It’s a November to remember across Minnesota. Or maybe to forget.
So far, November temperatures are running 11.6 degrees colder than average in the Twin Cities. We’ve endured a string of 18 straight colder than average days in St. Cloud , Minn., and the Twin Cities, with 23 straight sub-average in Eau Claire, Minn.
Milder breezes ahead
Large scale weather patterns have a way of shifting every four to six weeks. What we call “average” in these parts is usually made up of swings between below and above normal temperature spells.
Out next pattern change kicks in starting Friday. The upper air maps favor a more zonal (westerly) wind flow off the Pacific into much of next week.

Temperatures across much of Minnesota recover into above freezing territory starting Friday and through most of next week. It’s amazing how balmy temperatures in the 40s can feel after a prolonged cold spell.

The longer-range projections slightly favor warmer than average temperatures in Minnesota and points west as we head through late November.

Minnesota’s premature wintry onslaught may not stick around for good just yet.
Stay tuned.
