Heavy Ely snow; milder weekend; still watching Thanksgiving week rain or snow chances

Sunshine returns Friday

Our latest wintry blast pasted northeast Minnesota with some impressive snowfall totals Thursday. Ely, Minn., picked up 9 inches of heavy but beautiful snow.

Sheridan Street in downtown Ely is in full winter dress.

Milder weekend

November’s cold shoulder eases slightly this weekend. A sunny but brisk Friday gives way to highs in the 40s this weekend in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota.

Thanksgiving week rain or snow chances

I’m still watching Thanksgiving week rain and snow chances. The forecast models are literally all over the map on a possible system next week.

In theory, we will get more forecast model clarity this weekend as we draw closer to next week.

In theory. Stay tuned.
