The Cactus Blossoms kick off a series of shows tonight at the Turf Club in St. Paul. Their January residency has become a nearly annual tradition for the Twin Cities band.

The group includes brothers Jack Torrey and Page Burkum. Torrey told Rolling Stone magazine recently that the song “Please Don’t Call Me Crazy” is partly inspired by local music legend Curtiss A.

“[H]e’s been playing punk and rock & roll since the late Seventies. So it’s looking at the world through the eyes of an old rocker in the age of Facebook,” Torrey said.
