Plows and snow shovels are getting a workout up north today.
An Alberta Clipper is grazing the Twin Cities today with snow showers. But more sustained snows produced several inches in northeast Minnesota. Here’s the view of a fresh snowy coating Thursday afternoon from Grand Marais harbor.

Locations 4 miles up the hill from Grand Marais report more than 6 inches of fresh snow Thursday.
4 W Grand Marais [Cook Co, MN] PUBLIC reports SNOW of 6.90 INCH at 2:10 PM CST --
You can see several inches of fresh snow visible on the trails at Pincushion Mountain a few miles inland.

NWS Duluth [St. Louis Co, MN] OFFICIAL NWS OBS reports SNOW of 1.70 INCH at 12:00 PM CST --
1 SSW ELY [St. Louis Co, MN] TRAINED SPOTTER reports SNOW of 4.50 INCH at 2:14 PM CST --
Intl. Falls [Koochiching Co, MN] OFFICIAL NWS OBS reports SNOW of 4.60 INCH at 12:00 PM CST --
Bands of snow will move southeast tonight and exit Minnesota. Dry high pressure builds in by Friday morning. NOAA’s NAM 3 km resolution model depicts the sequence of events into Friday morning.
