Caitlyn Smith — a native of Cannon Falls, Minn. — is out with her second album, “Supernova,” Friday.
She first made a name for herself in Nashville as a songwriter. Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks and Meghan Trainor have all recorded her music, alongside other big names in country, Americana and pop.
But several years ago, Smith decided to focus on recording her own work, instead. She spoke with MPR News host Cathy Wurzer about that process, and her release.
