Accumulating snow, gale warnings and lakeshore flooding ahead up north this weekend
Brace for the Gales of March.

Scenes along the big lake change dramatically this weekend. A powerful storm will whip up Lake Superior into a late March froth.

Our inbound low-pressure storm cranks up some big winds across Lake Superior this weekend. Strong winds blowing across a long fetch of open water will gust to 45 mph. Gale warnings and lakeshore flood warnings are flying.
That force will push a wall of water toward Duluth and adjacent shores. Waves of 6 to 10 feet will pound shore and the lake walk once again.
Accumulating snow
It’s another reminder that it’s still March in Minnesota. Accumulating snow will fall in most of northeast Minnesota this weekend.
Temperatures will warm again by Monday. We’ll be melting some of the snow that falls across northern Minnesota by then.
