I had to do a double-take looking outside and at the calendar Wednesday. Our record mid-April cold wave peaked over the past 24 hours. It’s a record mid-April that feels more like February.
Milder days ahead
Temperatures gradually moderate the next few days. Brittle breezes give way to warmer sun and milder afternoons. Highs rebound into the 50s Friday. Highs near 60 degrees return to southern Minnesota Saturday.

Red lines overtake blue lines on weather maps next week. Next Tuesday looks mild. A few models suggest upper 60s for the Twin Cities.

Looking further ahead, it seems plausible we may see our last freezing temperatures of the spring season in the Twin Cities this weekend. We’ll see.
