Congratulations Minnesota. We just won the weather lottery for the first weekend in May.

We earn our springs and summers in Minnesota. Warm-season weekends are precious here. We’ll gladly trade a rainy Tuesday for a sunny mild weekend. 

Friday brings a few spotty rain showers to central and northern Minnesota. A powerful warm front sets up across central Minnesota Friday. Highs will push 80 degrees in southwest Minnesota. Temperatures linger in the 50s along the North Shore.

That strong temperature contrast sets off a few rain showers. Watch as they move from western Minnesota Friday morning into central and northern Minnesota during the midday and afternoon.

NOAA’s NAM 3 km resolution model shower the trend. It also suggests a broken line of spotty thundershowers approaching the Twin Cities around 9 to 10 p.m. Friday.

This may be the best weekend of spring. Highs in the 70s push as far north as Brainerd, Minn., Saturday.

Sunday brings slightly cooler weather to northern Minnesota.

Enjoy the balmy weekend. A cold front brings one more shot of chilly air south again next week.
