Latest rainfall totals; fresher front arrives tomorrow
Heavy rains favored the eastern Twin Cities and Wisconsin
Tuesday night’s weather system dropped some impressive rainfall totals across the east metro. Rainfall totals approached 3 inches in a swath from the east metro into northwest Wisconsin.
Numerous funnel clouds were sighted as the storms spun through. This impressive time-lapse video taken near Rosemount captures the weak, but nearly tornadic, rotation that prompted a tornado warning for the southeast Twin Cities.
Clouds linger today
Eastern Minnesota and the Twin Cities rides the back edge of the cloud deck from last night’s slowly departing weather system. Expect gradually more sunlight through the thinning cloud deck as we head into the evening hours.
Fresh front
We felt our first taste of summer humidity this week with dew points close to 70 degrees in the Twin Cities Tuesday. A cool front sweeps through Minnesota Thursday. Northwest breezes behind the system blow in a cooler and much drier air mass.

Free AC
Much of Minnesota will enjoy highs in the 60s Friday and Saturday.
We often notice the drop in dew point even more than the temperatures in summer. You can see how the drier air mass with dew points in the 30s and 40s shoves the sticky 60s into eastern Iowa and southern Wisconsin by Thursday evening.
Enjoy the more comfortable air mass.
