During the special session of the Minnesota Legislature underway this week, Gov. Tim Walz and lawmakers are pushing for a jobs and public works bill, or the bonding bill.

Congress is also considering jobs and infrastructure spending during this recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

APM Reports’ documentary unit took a look at the impact of the jobs and public works programs in the 1930s. The documentary is called "Bridge to Somewhere: Lessons from the New Deal." It was produced in 2009 by Catherine Winter with Mary Beth Kirchner and Stephen Smith.
